GuestPilot Cookie Policy

This Cookie Policy explains how GuestPilot uses cookies and similar technologies when you use the GuestPilot website, applications, digital guestbooks, and related services (collectively, the "Service").

GuestPilot is a trade name (d.b.a.) operated by Mountain Business Management, LLC, a Wyoming limited liability company ("GuestPilot," "we," "us," or "our").

This Cookie Policy should be read together with our Privacy Policy.

1. What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small pieces of information stored by your browser when you visit a website.

Websites use cookies for purposes such as keeping users signed in, maintaining sessions, remembering preferences, protecting accounts, preventing abuse, and understanding how a service is used.

GuestPilot may also use related technologies, including local storage, session storage, or similar browser-based mechanisms. For simplicity, this Policy refers to these technologies collectively as "cookies" where appropriate.

2. How GuestPilot Uses Cookies

GuestPilot is designed to minimize unnecessary tracking.

We primarily use cookies and similar technologies when they are reasonably necessary to:

  • authenticate GuestPilot account holders;
  • maintain secure sessions;
  • provide access to Protected Content;
  • remember limited Service preferences;
  • protect accounts and Properties;
  • prevent fraud, automated abuse, and unauthorized access;
  • maintain Service functionality; and
  • provide privacy-conscious analytics where appropriate.

GuestPilot does not intend to use cookies to create cross-site behavioral profiles of Guests who view GuestPilot Guestbooks.

3. Essential Cookies

Essential cookies are necessary for GuestPilot to function securely and correctly.

These cookies may be used for purposes such as:

Authentication. Keeping Hosts signed in to their GuestPilot accounts and determining whether a request comes from an authenticated User.

Session Management. Maintaining a secure interaction between your browser and GuestPilot.

Security. Protecting against unauthorized requests, fraud, abuse, automated attacks, and other security threats.

Protected Content. Remembering that a Guest has successfully entered the appropriate Property PIN or otherwise obtained authorization to view Protected Content.

Service Operation. Maintaining functionality specifically requested by a User.

Because these technologies are necessary to provide or secure the Service, they may operate without an optional cookie-consent choice where permitted by applicable law.

Disabling essential cookies may prevent GuestPilot from functioning properly.

4. Guestbook Access

Guests generally do not need to create a GuestPilot account to view a published Guestbook.

A public Guestbook does not require a Guest to accept advertising or behavioral-tracking cookies merely to access ordinary Guestbook content.

If a Guestbook contains Protected Content, GuestPilot may use a session cookie or similar mechanism after the Guest successfully enters the Property PIN. This allows the Guest to continue viewing authorized Protected Content without repeatedly entering the PIN.

This authorization mechanism is used to provide the security functionality requested by the Host and Guest. It is not intended for advertising or cross-site tracking.

5. Analytics

GuestPilot may collect limited information about how our website, Service, and published Guestbooks are used.

Our intended analytics approach is privacy-conscious and first-party.

Where reasonably practical, GuestPilot may use server-side or cookieless analytics for Guestbook activity rather than placing persistent tracking cookies on Guest devices.

Analytics may include information such as:

  • Guestbook views;
  • approximate unique sessions;
  • Guestbook sections opened;
  • recommendation clicks;
  • QR-originated visits where reasonably determinable;
  • device category;
  • browser type;
  • referring source; and
  • general Service usage information.

GuestPilot does not intend to use Guestbook analytics to fingerprint individual Guests or track them across unrelated websites.

6. Advertising and Cross-Site Tracking

GuestPilot does not currently use its Service to track Guests across unrelated websites for behavioral advertising.

In particular, GuestPilot's current Service is not intended to use:

  • third-party advertising cookies;
  • behavioral remarketing cookies;
  • advertising profiles of Guestbook viewers; or
  • cross-site tracking pixels on published Guestbooks.

If GuestPilot introduces advertising, remarketing, cross-site tracking, or other non-essential tracking technologies in the future, we will update this Cookie Policy and provide any notice, consent mechanism, opt-out control, or other choice required by applicable law.

7. Third-Party Services

GuestPilot may use third-party services that support features such as:

  • payment processing;
  • maps and location information;
  • artificial intelligence;
  • application infrastructure;
  • security;
  • email delivery;
  • monitoring; and
  • other Service functionality.

Some third-party services may use cookies or similar technologies when their content or functionality is loaded.

For example, GuestPilot may use mapping or location services supplied by Google or another provider. Those providers may process information or use browser technologies according to their own privacy and cookie policies.

GuestPilot seeks to minimize unnecessary third-party tracking, particularly within published Guestbooks.

Third-party websites reached by clicking a link in a GuestPilot Guestbook are outside GuestPilot's control. Their own privacy and cookie policies apply after you visit them.

8. Payment Services

GuestPilot may use Stripe or another third-party payment processor to process subscription payments.

Payment providers may use cookies or similar technologies for purposes such as:

  • processing payments;
  • detecting fraud;
  • maintaining security; and
  • complying with legal obligations.

These technologies may be governed by the payment provider's own privacy and cookie policies.

GuestPilot does not use payment-provider cookies to track Guests viewing Guestbooks for advertising purposes.

9. Browser Storage and Similar Technologies

GuestPilot may use browser technologies other than traditional cookies, including:

  • local storage;
  • session storage; and
  • other browser-based storage mechanisms.

These technologies may help GuestPilot maintain sessions, remember limited preferences, provide Protected Content, prevent abuse, or operate Service features.

GuestPilot applies the same general principle to these technologies that it applies to cookies: we seek to collect and retain only what is reasonably necessary for the applicable purpose.

Some GuestPilot cookies may be session cookies, which ordinarily expire when the browser session ends.

Others may be persistent cookies, which remain for a defined period or until deleted.

The duration depends on the cookie's purpose.

Security and authentication cookies should not be retained longer than reasonably necessary for their intended function.

GuestPilot may change particular cookie names, technical implementations, or durations as the Service evolves without materially changing the purposes described in this Policy.

11. Managing Cookies

Most browsers allow you to view, block, or delete cookies through browser settings.

You can generally configure your browser to:

  • delete existing cookies;
  • block particular cookies;
  • block cookies from particular websites;
  • block third-party cookies; or
  • notify you when cookies are being set.

Blocking essential GuestPilot cookies may prevent certain functionality from working correctly, including account login or access to Protected Content.

GuestPilot's current design emphasizes essential cookies and privacy-conscious analytics rather than advertising or behavioral tracking.

For that reason, GuestPilot may not display a general-purpose cookie-consent banner where the technologies in use do not legally require consent.

Where applicable law requires consent before GuestPilot uses a particular non-essential cookie or similar technology, GuestPilot will seek the required consent before using that technology.

Where legally required, Users will also be given an appropriate means of withdrawing or changing their consent.

13. Global Privacy Signals

GuestPilot will honor browser-based privacy preference signals where applicable law requires us to do so.

Because GuestPilot does not currently use Guestbook activity for cross-site behavioral advertising, such signals ordinarily should not affect basic access to a GuestPilot Guestbook.

We may update this Cookie Policy as GuestPilot evolves, our technology changes, or legal requirements change.

When we update this Policy, we will revise the Last Updated date.

If we materially change how we use cookies or introduce technologies requiring additional consent or opt-out rights, we will provide appropriate notice or controls where required.
